Acceptable use

Use it for as many items as your plan allows, at home or at work. Print the cards. Show them to whoever is helping you. Keep them for next time. Copy the text into your own notes. None of that needs permission.

Do not use Wrongstep, or anything it produces, in medical, legal, financial, safety, employment, credit, housing or judicial decisions.

It describes what is generally true of a kind of construction. It is not an inspection, not an assessment, and not advice about your item. Nothing it says should be relied on where a wrong answer causes harm that matters in law.

Do not use it to decide whether something is safely fixed, whether a wall will hold something, what a shelf or a bracket can carry, or how to use a power tool. It stops entirely when it detects a question of that kind and it will not be talked round it.

Do not attempt to get past that by rephrasing, splitting a question up, or asking hypothetically. It is not a filter to be worked around: those subjects are outside what the service knows, and a plausible answer about them would be worse than no answer.

• Presenting what the service produces as an inspection, a certification, a professional opinion or a safety assessment.
• Passing it off as the manufacturer's own instructions, or presenting it as coming from any brand.
• Removing the line that says the instructions in the box are the steps, or the line about getting help with anything heavy, from anything you pass on to someone else.
• Scraping, bulk-extracting or systematically copying the site's text, its drawings or its table, or using any of it to build a competing service.
• Reselling access, sharing an account with people it was not bought for, or automating access outside normal use.
• Attempting to break, overload, probe or reverse-engineer the service, or to reach data belonging to anyone else.
• Uploading anything at all — there is no upload here, and no attempt should be made to create one.
• Anything unlawful, or anything that infringes somebody else's rights.

Ordinarily you will simply be told, and asked to stop. Where the breach is serious, repeated, or puts someone at risk, access may be suspended or ended — and you will be told why, unless the law prevents it. Where a paid plan is ended for a breach, a fair proportion of the unused period is refunded.
